Brands & Retailers
Become Responsibly Raised Insects Certified
We're partnering with a select group of brands and retailers for our inaugural pilot. The first companies to carry the RRI certification mark will be among the earliest in the world to offer verified insect welfare claims to their customers, and will help to set the standard for what responsible sourcing looks like in this growing market. If you're selling insect-based pet food or other insect-derived products, this is a chance to get ahead of the curve and work directly with our team to shape how certification reaches the shelf.
Our process for brands is straightforward. We'll work with you to connect with certified producers, understand labeling and certification mark requirements across your markets, and ensure your supply chain meets RRI standards. Whether you're ready to source certified ingredients now or want to explore what welfare claims could mean for your brand, here's how to get started:
Initial Inquiry
Get in touch. Let us know that you are interested in becoming Responsibly Raised Insects certified. We will set up a first call to learn more about your business’s interests and needs.
Discuss Your Goals
Whether you're a brand sourcing insect protein for pet food, animal feed, or other insect-derived products, or a retailer looking to carry welfare-certified insect ingredients, your first call with our team is a chance to talk through your goals. We'll discuss your supply chain, the species you're working with (black soldier flies, yellow mealworms, or crickets) and how Responsibly Raised Insects certification fits into your sourcing strategy.
Diligence
RRI will support your team as you review local labeling requirements and prepare to meet chain of custody standards. Brands will also enter licensing agreements before they begin use of RRI’s logo.
Pilot Program (2026 – 2027)
If you are interested in partnering with us soon, prepare to go through our pilot program. 2026 is RRI’s launch year. We are accepting a limited number of producers in our 2026 - 2027 pilot. Our pilot program partners will be the first to undergo audit and receive certification. Brands that partner with us during this time will have the first opportunity to bring RRI-certified insect products from certified producers to their consumers.
Future Applicants
If you think you may be interested in partnering with us down the road, we still recommend that you get in touch. Our team can discuss next steps. And you will be the first to know when our post-pilot process launches.
Marketing & Promotion
RRI is proud to partner with producers, brands, and retailers who commitment to insect welfare standards. We will provide marketing support, and will promote your team’s commitments through our channels.
